is the search over?

We *may* have found our home!

(and we don't even have the official paperwork from the bank yet about our loan - but this is below what we can afford - PTL!!!)

I'll share more later.....I'm very excited but trying to remain calm.  This is a huge ol' process (as I'm sure many of you know) and you just never know 'til the papers have been signed.

We are taking our contractor guy (a great friend from church) out to see the place Sunday after church.  I'll know more after this week and after that appointment on Sunday.

How exciting!!  Well, at least for me....... ;)

Don't forget to have your closing costs INCLUDED in your loan.

I'm excited too!! It looks perfect from the pictures I saw. Lots of land. Lots of house (and the basement isn't even finished yet).

Enough land for me to build a house on someday! Ya know....should I want to live in Michigan. :P

Closing cost ~ ugh!
They are expensive. I didn't realize you could somehow get them added to your loan. Instead of paying for them with cash at closing?? I'll have to ask Dean and our agent about all that....

What you also don't want to forget for your loan is property taxes and home insurance. Those things will be added to your monthly payments. So just getting a loan with enough money for your mortgage isn't enough. And depending on taxes in your area, that could *really* increase your monthly payments!!

Man, you go through a crash course in real estate "stuff" when buying a home. All I really know is we are NOT going to get ourselves in over our heads!! I don't want a home at the expense of our sanity and peace of mind dealing with MONEY ~ ugh, money.... so I'd rather have a smaller home, a less-nice home, than deal with all that junk!

Now comes a bunch of waiting: waiting for the loan stuff, waiting for a response to our offer (maybe counter-offer), waiting for the underwriter, waiting for the closing date, yada-yada-yada....

Of course, I do have to pack WITH five kiddos to, ahem, "help".....and I would like to have a garage sale in that time period - just to get rid of stuff I don't want to move (ha!) and pay for the paint I want to buy for the new house (I love to paint!). I guess I'll have things to keep me busy during that time, eh?

Fun times~

Buying a house is so exciting!!! We were first time home buyers just last September. We haven't regretted our decision to buy yet. Yay, Tim's been laid off for five months but somehow we've always managed to pay our mortgage. Hopefully we'll continue to be able to and hopefully God will bless Tim with a full time job/career soon. Anyway, praying it all works out for you! If you end up getting it you've got to post pictures!! ;-)

How exciting Lori!

I know what you mean about the waiting! We just got word today that all is well for our loan. Even though we were pre-approved before, an underwriter still had to review it. We also had to get details squared away on insurance (such as how big of a deductible we would like to have). Now all the work is behind the scenes stuff and just waiting.

On packing- a friend of mine sugested packing dishes by wrapping them in clothing, thus getting twice the ammount of stuff packed in one box- both clothes and dishes. I packed a couple boxes like this already and it seems to be working well!

BTW- How did your c-section go? I don't recall you mentioning how the surgery and recovery went. I'm thinking ahead to when/if I have a 5th. c-section baby and wondering how it will go surgery wise...

Hi Morgan~
Yes, we are also waiting on the underwriter at this point. We are pre-approved but still waiting...

The packing dishes with clothes thing makes sense. I usually pack dishes with dish clothes and towels, plus bibs and kitchen linens (cloth napkins, tablecloths, etc.)....but I had never thought of branching out when I run out of "kitchen" stuff. Good idea!

I need to find time to write up about the c-section before I forget everything. If I could just find 5 spare minutes....ha!!
