Good Morning = Good NIGHT??

"Good Morning"

It is a *good* morning, isn't it??

If you are anything like me, this is a completely subjective question.  It is reliant on one main factor:  What time did I go to bed last night?

I am a night owl ~ I enjoy night time.  Honestly, I enjoy the quiet time the late night offers me.  It's nice.

Yet when it comes to being a manager of my home, I need to get up and going by a certain time (that time will vary for each wife & momma).  My time will *never* be the crack of dawn (sorry honey), yet it must be early enough for me NOT to feel as though I'm playing catch up all day either (again, you will have to figure out what this time will be for you).

So if I need to get up at a certain time each morning, in order to be the best manager of my home that I can be (or that I want to be), it makes sense that I go to bed at a corresponding bedtime.  Therein lies my downfall....

If I got up at my established best-time each morning....yet I was still going to bed at my regular time....I would be getting a grand total of *maybe* 5 hours.  That is simply not enough for me.  No matter how much I enjoy the night time.

So I continue to struggle against my human nature as a night owl.  I *strive* to go to bed a bit earlier - although often times I fail miserably.  *sigh*  I'm trying.

And how about YOU!?!?

What time are you headed to bed regularly??  How many hours per night are you usually getting??  Do you get up at the same time each morning??  Do you find that a good night's rest really *does* make you a better manager of your home, or can you function fine with a few hours??  As you get older, are you finding you need more or less sleep each night??

Oh, and if you have any tips about how to maintain a REGULAR bedtime, and REGULAR rising time, *please* share with us ~ I'm sure I'm not the only one who struggles in this area!

Ummm....it's late, I need to go to bed...
 *blush*

Well I'm in bed by 9-930 and I'm up at 430 EVERY morning.

I rise early to get my praying/Bible stud/exercise/shower in, before the house wakes. M-F I work, so I'm leaving the house by 6. I'm not a coffee drinker, nor ondo I drink ANY caffeine. I *may* indulge in chocolate once in a blue moon, but that's it. Exercise, I find gives me the energy needed.

I'm 34, so I'm finding myself needing LESS sleep than in my earlier years.

It's all about routine in my home. I lay out the children's clothes the night before, back packs packed, lunches made, showers done, etc. My hubby is a whiz at making breakfast, and no it's not some high in sugar cereal. he also cleans up too!

I'm at my best in the morning, and afternoon.

As great as it is to wake up early frankly, we're are all built and function differently. If I wake up early (before 6 or 7) I drag all day long- even if I get to bed by 9or 10. I tend to wake up around 7:30 every day. I go to bed at midnight almost every night. Sometimes I stay up later. ;-) I have a routine too...just not what 'some' might think to be ideal but you know what?! It works for me! I have the kiddos 24/7 so nighttime is pretty much my only quiet time. It's when I collect my thoughts, pray, read my Bible and chill! I love it and I look forward to it all day long. I don't know, maybe when the boys get a little older I'll get into a more 'normal' routine but for now this works for us. See, you're not the only one that likes staying up late! ;-)

I have such a hard time with this issue! I am definitely a night owl, but also seriously need at least 8 hours of sleep or I am just dragging the next day. That really doesn't work out well at all during the school year. Seeing that school starts tomorrow, I was just thinking last night of getting into a routine and how best to do that. I need to get up by 6:00 each morning to ensure plenty of time for me to get ready before getting the boys up and ready and to school on time. So, seeing as their bed time is 8:00 and Brian and I like our coffee/t.v./talking time after that, we should easily be able to go to bed by 9:30-10:00 each night. So, that's my goal, to go to bed as close to 9:30 as possible and no later than 10:00. That way, I will get a full 8 hours of sleep and should be able to function properly the next day. I'll let you know how that ends up working out for us. ;-)

Well I too will say I love staying up late, but only in summer and I would love to on the weekends too but I can't seem to make it past 11 on Fri. and Sat. I'll start getting up tomorrow at 6 a.m. again and I'll get in bed at 9ish and read or watch tv. and always have the lights out by 10 or shortly after! I do all the prep for the next day right after dinner, including the kids showers.
I get my best housework done by 9 a.m. so that's a plus....haha but like you say Lori, you have to do what works! With a teen in the house, he goes to bed at 10 as well...he does have to be in his bed by 9:30 but can read for 1/2 hr. That's the rule for all 3 kids actually, they have to be in bed 1/2 hr. ahead of *lights out* and can read or listen to a book on tape or something. On Fri. nights anything goes for kids for bed...like me they don't make it too late! ha HAPPY BACK TO SCHOOL ALL!!!

Well,I started our schedule today. I was out of bed at 630 and I did a coupl of things in the school room, took a shower and dressed, did a devotional and put it up on the blog and then the girls were up, we made breakfast and then school stuff. I'm sure I will be in bed between 10 and 11 so that I can do it again tomorrow! So, we will see how this goes. Here's hoping!
